I am walking from SJPP to Santiago in 3 weeks time. I am not carrying a sleeping bag. Is this only an issue in refugios ? Scooter

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi scooter,

It depends on what you want to do, if you are staying in hotels and pensions it shouldnt be a problem.
Pilgrim accommodation you will need a sleeping bag, not all provide blankets, and some can be quite cold at night.

Many albergues require that pilgrims have a 'sack' of some sort so that they don't have hot, sweaty bodies lying directly on their mattress covers! Not all albergues have blankets or sheets and you could find yourself lying on a rather grubby mattress. Take a silk liner - mine weighs 180gr.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I walked from SJPP to Santiago a few years ago and set off at about the same time as you intend to. I would highly recommend that you carry a small lightweight sleeping bag. It will still be quite cold at night in some of the refugios and although there will be sheets in commercial hotels you will not, in my view, get the full 'atmospheric' benefit of the Camino if yiou rely on these for your overnight stops.

I would definitely go with a sleeping bag. I have a 500 g, 5 degrees bag I got from MEC that compresses really well. Much warmer and more useful than a liner. The nights can be COLD. And a good night's sleep is important when you are walking all day. I really don't think the blankets and mattresses get washed very often in the albergues, maybe that's okay with you, but I would really want something between me and them...
