I’ll be walking the Le Puy this September and plan to finish in SJPP in early October. I need to travel from SJPP to Madrid, but am having trouble finding a straightforward, cost effective travel plan for SJPP to Madrid. Right now I’m thinking of taking the train back to Bayonne and then bussing it to Madrid, but am wondering if there is a better way. Any suggestions? Many thanks…

You could go from SJPdP to Pamplona by bus, and from there to Madrid by either bus or train. This is what many of us have done in the opposite direction. Rome2rio is a good website to research this. I don't know if this is easier than via Bayonne or not, but it is a viable alternative.
