Seriously considering 2015 El Camino Portugues

Initial investigations ... a 'bucket list' dream since 2012 or earlier I think, ... would be travelling from South Africa, doing the Way solo. Naturally safety as a solo woman is of concern, although having done a bit of Forum reading, doesn't seem to be cause for concern?

Would appreciate any general helpful information.

Thank you.

Where are you planning to start from Shazzie? I am setting off from Lisbon on 1 May, walking solo. I have been reading whatever accounts I can find. Not many pilgrims start from Lisbon, most preferring to set off from Porto. You will find various threads on the forum relating to the Portuguese route. I will be writing a daily blog from the camino that you are welcome to follow, just click the link below.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Hello Shazzie,

You are wise to raise the question...and I think you will be relieved to learn that the Camino is quite safe. I wanted to share something I wrote on women's safety on the Camino - I wrote it for those who plan to walk the Camino Frances, but I think it applies to all routes. I hope you will find this useful :)

Magwood, have been doing a lot of reading and have discovered the Best of Both by Annie, assisted walk from Pamplona to Santiago ... looks like a great option ... so May 2015 is becoming a reality ... I continue to read much and hope to start with as much initial planning as I can ... seems a long while off, but before I know it 2015 will have arrived.
Thank you, I will definitely follow your blog. All the best with your preparations, very exciting.

Hi musicman
Point taken :) ... since my initial post till now have more information and look forward to travelling as part of an assisted walk ... much easier for a un-seasoned travellor!!
