I just completed a 16 day walk from St Jean to Sahagun beginning on Good Friday. I became part of a fantastic group of 6 pilgrims from Roncesvalles onwards. We started each day between 6.30 - 7.30am and pulled up around 3pm each day. No problems with finding beds. No bedbug encounters and miraculously no rain!! The biggest talking point was the weather. St Jean to Burgos was hot! +80 degrees : Sunburn and windburn to the point where i had to wrap my face in a Saharan desert nomad style. Then the next morning -3 ! Freezing winds across the Meseta and cold draughty monasteries with our beds piled high with blankets. I loved every second and am heading back at the end of August to finally get to Finisterre.
My new Camino discovery / luxury is having a hanging Cardboard Car Air freshener in the bottom of my bag. No more nasty sock smells!

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Great discovery Mckarash! About the air freshener :)

And " Scorchio "... I must dig up the dvd from that show : Hilarious!

Got back from the VDLP yesterday and same for us. Boiled and scorched for a week and last two days froz. My last night I slept in a down sleeping bag with 2 thick blankets with a log stove in the bedroom. Toasty!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
