Hope to do section of Camino Portugues 2015
Hi there,

Can anyone recall (or check for me in a guidebook ) whether the above stage was mainly path/Tarmac road? Also the distance (have seen varying reports online). Am looking to do this stage as a day trip from Santander where I am studying and am trying to time buses! Have walked Camino Frances & Portuguese before and would love to be able to walk the Camino del Norte sometime in the future, unfortunately right now I only have one day. Am I right in thinking this stage would be a nice day's walking to choose?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
We remember this section as being a lot of tarmac. If you check out bus (or FEVE) times to Llanes and walk west from there it is more track etc, particularly Celorio to Ribadasella, then get the bus or FEVE back. The FEVE only has 2 trains per day which you can use (early am out and late pm back). ALSA might be best, or a' local' company. You can check out the Gronze site for distances.

Another possibility would be from Comillas to San Vicente de la Barquera, the stage further to the west. You have a choice of two routes, one on country roads, and the other beside beaches.

Join the Camino cleanup. Logroño to Burgos May 2025 & Astorga to OCebreiro in June
Thanks so much everyone!! I will check out train / bus times for those options Tomoro! Cheers
