Train for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island March 16-19
Nothing could be easier or more fun. San Sebastian is a Basque-country jewel, nice harbor and fantastic tapas bars! There is a train every morning to Bayonne, requiring a change of trains at Hendaye on the French border a simple walk across the station to the waiting French train, less than a hour all together. From the train station in Bayonne there is a bus to St Jean nothing could be easier and you break your jet lag in a most pleasant manner.
Buen Camino

I flew into San Sebastian on my first camino. It was fine. Very easy to do. My only regret was not planning for a day to explore that city. It looked beautiful from the sky.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I've never flown through San Sebastian airport (few people do) but it's well outside San Seb and very close to Irun. A train or bus from there up to Bayonne and on to SJPP would make it tempting to miss San Sebastian itself if you're tired and just want to get yourself sorted out at the start of the route.

Maybe San Sebastian will be the first 'must go back to' place on your list that will probably (and hopefully) expand as you walk through Spain. :D

Buen Camino!

Thanks for the input guys - it sounds like it'll be no drama.I'm winging it from San Sebastian and your comments have put me at ease regarding that.Gracias - kiwiDavid

We took a cab from our hotel in San Sebastian to the Train station in France. Hendaya? Is that right? I think it cost about 30 Euro for two of us. But I understand that from the airport there is a bus that goes straight to it for 10 Euro. Either way it only takes a few minutes.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Thank you very much chacharm - that's exactly what i was looking for - good one - kiwiDavid
Yes it's Hendaye :D
