San Sebastian airport to Roncesvalle

Hi fellow Pilgrims- I had intended to fly into San Sebastian Spain airport then work my way to Roncesvalle via bus, train, taxi. I have not seen anyone else on the forum using this airport. Can any of you savvy pilgrims let me know if it's feasible to use this route. It looks pretty straight forward, but I wonder??? I'd like to order plane tix asap for a May 1st pilgrimage. Please advise. I'm coming from Seattle, Washington USA. Thanks, Carol

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Hi, Carol,

I'm not sure where the San Sebastian airport is, but I'm sure you can easiliy get into the center of town from the airport by some kind of public transport or of course a taxi. Then the from there take a train or bus to Pamplona. The movelia.es website shows frequent buses from SS to Pamplona, taking about 1 1/2 hours and costing about 7 euros. My quick glance at the RENFE (train) schedule suggests it takes a bit longer and is less frequent, but you can check that too at renfe.com

And then you would take the bus from Pamplona to Roncesvalles (there's lots of info on this last part of the trip here on this forum -- you can easily find it by searching).

So how are you flying from Seattle to San Sebastian? Just curious.

Buen camino, Laurie

Hi Laurie, Thanks for responding so quickly. Prices are rising! The airline choices thru Expedia are with Iberia/American Airlines. I'm trusting I can make my way back to SS so am booking round trip. Thanks for the connection info once I arrive too. I appreciate it. Carol

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
If you are flying on Iberia you could fly to Pamplona and then home from Santiago. (Both ways will require a changeover but it will probably cost the same, if not less, than getting bus and train transport.

Ok Sillydoll, you are definitely savvy. Just booked thru cheapoair and saved a bundle. I'm looking at my Rick Steve's map to figure the route and there was no plane symbol for Pamplona! Don't get me wrong I love Rick Steves and have travelled with his group to Ireland. I'm so happy right now I could sing so I will. Thank you!!! You saved me money, time and worry. Carol

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
