Camino Portuguese
Hi there,

**camino Portuguese from Lisbon to Santiago**

I’m thinking about sending my sleeping bag to Santiago. It’s definitely on the heavier side and so far every place has hd sheets and bedding. I would even be willing to pay a bit more for places with bedding.

I guess I’m wondering how common is it that people are using their sleeping bag? If it seems to be most nights from porto onward in the albergues then I’ll keep it but if not then I think I will send it.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
It really depends. I have never carried a sleeping bag on 12-ish caminos. But there are others who wouldn't walk a camino without one. I don't feel the cold that much so if there's no bedding provided I am usually fine with a sleep sheet and a sweater/jumper. But YMMV.

I come from the opposite side of the spectrum to @jungleboy. I have always carried a sleeping bag and liner. I have relied on the sleeping bag in places where there are no or extremely thin blankets and even used it where there are reasonable blankets. The liner gets used pretty much everywhere as a bed-bug shield. I wouldn't be parting with them myself, but if you want to, that is very much a personal choice, and I wouldn't try to persuade you otherwise.

How common is this? I really cannot tell. I don't wander around albergues checking whether people are sleeping in their own bag or using blankets provided by the albergue!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Your decision needs to be based on what kind of accommodation you intend to use, and how likely it is to be able get that kind of accommodation.

I walked Porto to Santiago in April and I only needed my sleeping bag two nights. Every place had blankets and sheets. You can see in booking.com from the pics which albergues have sheets/blankets. The only reason I would say to keep it is that it is getting colder and you may want extra warmth.

I always carry my sleeping bag. Not every place washes their blankets after every use. Plus, it is getting colder.
