Hi fellow Pilgrims,

I fly to Biarritz tomorrow and due to rail strikes my train has been cancelled from Bayonne to SJPP.

Has anyone else been affected by this? If so, would you like to share a taxi ride to SJPP?

Failing this, does anyone know of another way I can get to SJPP from Biarritz tomorrow?

Thank you,

A

See https://www.expressbourricot.com/ - a special transport service for pilgrims. You need to register with them and depending on the number of pilgrims the cost for Biarritz airport to SJPP can be very low. At the time of writing this post, there are still availabilities:

September 28 Biarritz Airport- St Jean:
11h00 from 19€
17h00 from 32€
This is a service that has been used by numerous pilgrims over the years who can recommend it.

Also, according to French rail https://www.sncf.com, the train Bayonne to SJPP, departure at 18:40, is replaced by a bus - but only this train connection, not the others. Transfer time is 1h 35 min. All other bus connections listed on the website for 28 September 2022 are not useful as it would take you 4 hours to get from Bayonne station to SJPP.

Buen Camino!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Thank you @Kathar1na! I have managed to get a spot with express bourricot which, by the sounds of it, will save me an awful lot of hassle with the public transport system this week

I just noticed the cancellations and made a request at Express Bourricot. Like you I’m heading to SJPP tomorrow (28th), but from Bayonne railway station. So @Readey if EB would be unavailable or something else would happen I’m open for sharing a taxi or something if needed. I thought the stress would be over now that I’m in the right country but guess not quite 😁

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc

Oh no! @iidamarjattamirjam I’ll keep you in mind if anything changes my end! Good luck!! X

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
SNCF had a variety of buses taking from 1 hour at 5:30 am to 4 hours during the day. It seems to evolve. I phoned Express Bourricot instead. There is a bus every 20 minutes from Bayonne to airport.
