Rest days on Norte.

CTreacy

Oh no , not again.
Time of past OR future Camino
Portuguese ( Sep 2017)
Primitivo ( Sep 2018)
Norte (Aug / Sep 2019)
del Plata ( Mar / Apr 2020 ?)
Looking at the various stagings for the Norte they seem to vary between 31 and 36 stages. I would like to add a couple of rest days ( maybe three ). Excluding Bilbao, are there any recommended places for taking a rest day along the route ?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
so many!!!! If you like biggish cities, obviously Avilés, Gijón or Santander.
If you want just a quiet bucolic place with not much on it, by the seaside, this would be a list of my favourite places

Zarautz
Laredo
Buelna
Ribadesella (try kayaking in the river, it is BEAUTIFUL)
Luarca

and, for some reason, remote town of Tapia de Casariego

I could see myself very easily spending a few days in any of those...

Thanks. I am meeting a friend in Mondonedo so I will factor in a few rest days even if I dont need them to synch our arrival times there. I think Gijon and one or two of those places will do just fine.

I completely agree with Trecile. Rest when your body tells you not the sights.
Indeed, you will be surprised by some unexpected place. In my case, Luarca is a place I fell in love with on the spot!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Take a side trip to the plata de cathedrals from Ribadeo. You can go there by taxi or train. If you feel like it you can walk back along the coast (the trail is marked "ruta de cantabrico") We thought this was the most beautiful stretch of this years camino ( we started in Santillana). Little asphalt, much see and many flowers. It is not really a rest day, but we found it very relaxing to walk a day without our backpacks

Planning on walking Norte-Primitivo starting about June 10, 2025. Are the albergues very busy at that time and also what will the weather be? I did this the end of August and September of 2017 and...
