I'm just looking at booking a rail ticket from Madrid and registering on the Renfe website gives 3 options for 'membership' seems to be that the top tier is free and has several benefits over the lower tiers. Am I missing something, looks like there's no reason to sign up with the lower tiers ?

Any advice ?

Holoholo automatically captures your footpaths, places, photos, and journals.
I just book the cheapest ticket and if I have flexibility I wait until I get to Spain and buy a Tarjeta Dorada and get discounted train trips.
Thanks for replying @Anniesantiago this for for setting up an account on the Renfe website before buying a ticket. I have to select one of three options above but don't really understand why the 2 lower tiers are there and if there's any reason why I should choose one of them.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I have an account, but can't tell you what level. Probably the middle one since I can manage tickets for others. The top tier you may get more email notifications. I don't get any from Renfe.

Each tier pretty much explains itself to me. I guess I don't understand your question.

I get what you mean, seems odd. Are you sure there's no charge when you select it? Otherwise it's a bit of a weird no brainer.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

It's most likely related to the amount of personal information you might need to provide

Membership is handy for future bookings and offers.
