First Camino in May and doing the Portugues route... Currently looking at possible stages/stops etc.
For those that have done this route which would you recommend - Redondela Or Acrade ???
Any recommendations for where to stay in either town also greatly appreciate.
Thanks

if warm enough, arcade has beaches nearby. redondela is more of a town with some nice areas and with more accommodation options, arcade is smaller and modern.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
2 km before Arcade is albergue O Recuncho do peregrino. We stayed there twice and were treated like royalty by Miguel and his wife. 10 Euro per person/night in private room.

Pass Redondela with its smelly busy albergue and walk another 3 kms to Cessantes. There you'll find o refúxio de la Jérezana , a privat albergue . Marie is running this very nice place. Highly recommended. Well waymarked on the way to Cessantes. Just follow the yellow waymarkers direction on Pontevedra . After ca3 kms from Redondela you have to cross a busy road. On the corner is a restaurant. Don't cross this road but turn right. About 150 meters from there in the bend of the busy road it is at your right hand.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Hello! How do you book this albergue? Thank you!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Unfortunately our friend was forced to close the albergue during covid and did not open again, very sad.

In a bit of higher price bracket but Hotel Antolin is a few kms beyond Redondela, signed off of the route and sits right on the estuary (very scenic). Good food and possible to take a bathe (or two) in the estuary.
It is also waymarked back to the main route. They have a limited number of triple, quadruple and family rooms which may help to cut cost for those willing to share. That said, it is often full during the summer months!

Ah! I saw this place but the reviews seemed kinda meh so I didn't take a closer look. However, the website is STUNNING. Also, I need to google what an estuary is.

Its plus points are food, location and view. The rooms are tired, with odd bathroom confugurations but perfectly acceptable, but obviously that is just one opinion.
Estuary = tidal mouth of a river

Hope that you find somewhere :).

Food is life! I will take a look, thank you!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I liked Arcade as an overnight stay. If you have energy in the afternoon you can walk to the medieval bridge (even though you will cross it the next day) and walk a bit more along the waterfront to the west of the bridge. A Romana over the bridge was a nice drink spot but Google says it’s temporarily closed.
