LIVE from the Camino Rain and chilly..

I arrived in Irun in morning today. I'm killing time in cafe (which provide free wifi) until albergue open 4pm. It's raining and chilly here. Will be needed rain jacket tomorrow to start my Camino Norte.

I stayed in a hotel in Bayonne last night as I was tired after the long flight and needed rest before Camino.
I thought I should have stayed in hotel in Irun not Bayonne. There is pensions, hotels more option.
If you need extra day before Camino you should come to Irun directory and relax, cafe con reche, collect info etc.. I like Irun better than other French places.
Alright, time to eat tortilla!

You can get that tortilla because Irun is not in France! ;) However, I understand what you are saying. It is better to relax at the head of the route, and Irun is less expensive than Biarritz/Bayonne.

Buen camino.

In my mind, the compelling reason for staying in Bayonne is to see the cathedral there (and to visit @biarritzdon ;-). Absolutely stunning (the cathedral, that is; I haven't met Don so can't speak on that account).

Oh killing time? Sounds so violent!
You are spending time, spending your valuable time hanging in a lovely cafe in Spain.
I envy your priviledge!
And you must get used to spending a lovely portion of your day checking out the free wifi and the chatting in local Spanish cafés.

If it's cold and chilly you might want to keep to the lower route on day one. If the clouds lift take the high road to St Sebastienne . Great views and ancient Forts etc. Bien Camino.
