I have been in Spain many times, and I still have the following three burning questions. I have not asked the locals for fear that I may not understand the explanation.
1. What is the rectangular shape with a diagonal line in the middle with one side painted black and the other side white? There are quite a lot all over the rural area, but no one seems to know what it means. I initially assumed hunting/no, or do not enter- private property, but now I am convinced it isn't.
2. Why some houses put (usually clear) plastic bottles with full of water in front of the door? I think someone said something to the effect that reflection of sunlight through water keeps bugs out?
3. What about the empty plastic bottles put upside down on a stick of wood or iron in the garden? There are quite a few so there must be some reason for this too.

Private hunting or intensive hunting (presumed to be private).

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The bottle on top of the stick or pole in the garden is to protect against injury when bending over - a gardener's trick.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
