public transport

I am planning to walk approximately 300 kms of the Le Puy route starting in Le Puy. Is there regular public transport on the route bus/train etc? Where would be the best place to stop and return to Le Puy?

You will cross good rail connections at least once a week: Le Puy, Aumont-Aubrac, Figeac, Cahors, and Moissac all have good rail service (as I recall without checking MMD, which is careful to identify rail connections). Bus service will be available at many intermediate towns as well - but deciphering those details may require assistance from a Tourism Office (they're experts!). In a pinch, you can always hitch a lift on the baggage transport runs, or get someone to call you a cab.

There isn't a lot of public transport in many places on the Le Puy route, though there are 'luggage services' that will sometimes transport people for a stage or two.
When I looked up the godesalco planner http://www.godesalco.com/plan/podense it told me that Limogne-en-Quercy was at about the 300km mark, and Cajarc is at the 282km mark. As far as I can work out, the nearest places to that with train transport are Cahors (341km) or Figeac (251km). Whether there are limited bus services from Limogne-en-Quercy or Cajarc I am sorry I don't know, and I don't know how to find out.

Hi there, I'm considering walking from Le Puy to St. Jean next spring if I can get my French up to par. I'm looking on advice on a few things: - Would it be too cool and rainy to start walking...
