There is a wonderful initiative to encourage those walking on the Camino to try and help 'clear-up' litter / rubbish that has been left along the way.

To assist with collecting the rubbish, Correos, the Spanish postal service, are providing free bags at the following locations :

  • Oficina de Correos Auritz-Burguete, San Nicolás, 30.
  • Pamplona O.P. Pablo Sarasate, 9.
  • Oficina Correos Jaca, C/ de los Pirineos 8.
  • Oficina Correos Irún, Luis Mariano 45.
  • Donostia O.P. Urdaneta, 7.
  • Bilbao O.P. Alda. Urquijo 19.
  • Santander O.P. Plaza Alfonso XIII 2.
  • León O.P. Jardín de San Francisco, 2.
  • Oficina Correos Ponferrada, General Vives 1.
  • Oficina Correos Sarria, Calvo Sotelo 183.
  • Oficina Correos Tui, Martinez Padin 12.
  • Oficina Correos A Guarda, Oia,2.
  • Oviedo O.P. Alonso Quintanilla 1.
  • Gijón O.P. Pl. Seis de Agosto s/n
  • Ferrol O.P. Pl Galicia s/n.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

What an excellent idea! I will definitely be helping with that. I start my hike on 16 September from SJPP. I am a first timer. Might as well start off right!

Absolutely agree! I'm a first time Peregrino - Frances path - from Australia. Started Saint Jean Pied de Port - 13 August. I've been saddened by the rubbishing of this beautiful way. I believe we should treat the Camino with more respect.
Buen Camino!

You can always ask your accommodation provider for a bolsa descarda and pick up what you can as you go. Don’t touch the sanitary stuff but just clearing the water bottles, Aquarias cans and bocadillo wraps makes a difference. There’s always a dumpster for your prizes when you get to the next pueblo
