Hi everyone,

It pains me to type this message, but, due to injuries I've decided to postpone my walk. Unfortunately my knee did not take to the cortisone injection, the ankle on the other hand has.

As you can imagine I'm TOTALLY devastated. My intention moving forward is to focus on healing, correcting my bio-mechanics and strengthening my body. It's moments like these you realise how much you truly want something and your hunger grows even stronger for it.

I want to say a BIG thank you to you all, for the wonderful support you have shown me over the past 1.5 years. I will be back, fitter, stronger and more ready than ever.

I'll be thinking of you guys who are about to embark on this epic adventure and watching from afar with a tad of envy. Enjoy!

See you guys around the traps.

Sonn

Oh Dear!
Having said that, I know, deep in my heart, that everything which occurs on the Camino good or apparently bad has a reason, we may not comprehend at the that time but it is always for our own good. Not mysticism, not New Age claptrap, not a fatalistic form of Buddhism but rather cold hard reality and fact. You will return a stronger person, spiritually and mentally, the physical does not matter, and you will stride triumphal into Santiago, next fall, next year. Believe it and it will happen.

Once again, Scruffy, you've voiced my thoughts.

Sonn, we all understand how you're feeling right now and a group hug is definitely in order. However, congratulations on listening to your body. It takes a lot of courage to face the disappointment rather than blindly pursuing something that you want to do. Perhaps your pilgrim lessons this time around need to be learnt closer to home. You'll know if and when it's time to start planning again.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Folks,

Thank you ever so much for your kind words. It truly means alot to me.

How fortunate are we to have a forum like this to be able to share our highs as well as our lows in a loving and supportive way. Thank you.

Julie, you hit the nail on the head.

So guys, watch this space...

Thanks again and a bon chemin,

Sonn, sorry to hear your news, but I hope the opportunity comes around again for you before too long. You'll enjoy it more if you get over those injuries so I am sure it is a wise decision.

Sonn, so sorry to hear about your postponement. It's a wise decision to listen to your body. When you do the Camino, you will find yourself in such great mental, physical, and spiritual shape that you will achieve more than you dreamed possible! Carry on, girl!!

Sonn,
I was just headed to the airport to start the Le Puy on Monday and decided to check the Forum on my way out. So sorry to hear that you had to change your plans. I was looking forward to maybe crossing your path and sharing stories. As Scruffy said, everything really does happen for a reason. Look forward to seeing you plan your next adventure with the help of your Forum friends. All the best, Rick

Thanks again everyone for your support, it means alot to me. I took a few weeks off to clear my head and refocus. I'm booked in to see an orthopaedic surgeon tomorrow given I'm receiving conflicting reports from my GP, physio and specialist. I have no idea who's right! Hopefully this guy can shed some light and help me get back to tip top form. At this point in time, I'm HOPING to be on the road around this time next year. Watch this space.

Rick, how's your Camino journey coming along?

:)

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

You would be drowning in France right now! We had only three days of short sleeves and five days not in weather gear for forty days from Le Puy.

I then started from Toulouse. I have had only one day out of rain gear. On the Lourdes variant, I stayed in Lourdes an extra day to see if the paths to Oloron would become passable. The rivers are full and the parallel paths sodden. Pilgrims staying on the Voie d'Arles are being advised by locals to stay on the road. I finally took the train to Oloron. Here I have told to avoid the Chemin on the banks of the Aspe. A woman fell and broke her leg yesterday. At least she did not slide into the river and drown!

With Pamplona flooding, I will be anticipating lots of water after Somport!

Your trip delay may yield better weather!

Bon chemin.

Falc, by the sounds of things postponing my trip might have been a blessing in disguise. :) God knows how I would have handled walking in the rain for the most part?

Here's hoping the sun pokes its head out for you guys.

:)

Hi there, I'm considering walking from Le Puy to St. Jean next spring if I can get my French up to par. I'm looking on advice on a few things: - Would it be too cool and rainy to start walking...
