I am traveling solo on the Portuguese Porto Central route at the end of May. I do not want to walk through Porto but would like to start in Mosteiro. Is that a good starting place and, if so, how do I get from Porto to Mosteiro? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Yes, Mosteiro is a good place to start the Central from Porto, avoiding the Porto suburbs. To start there, take the Porto subway (red B line) from downtown Porto to the Vilar do Pinheiro station (4 zone fare). When you get off the train, head north and take the first right. Follow that road, crossing the highway (N-13) and continue on the same road until it ends at a T intersection where you go left, putting you on the Portuguese Central Camino. You will immediately arrive at a village commercial area, with a nice cafe on the left side of the Camino route where you can also get a stamp.

We are starting with the Portuguese, coastal route, and will be taking the red B line to Vilar do pinheiro but turning left to access the coastal route. We will then take the option to cross over to Labruge to follow the coast.

Walking from Mosteiro or Maia walk to Vairão where is a nice albergue o Mosteiro de Vairão in an ancient sanctuary.
Carla and her team of hospitaleiros will take care for you . Great place
From there you can continue to São Pedro de Rates or Barcelos.
