May I wish all Pilgrims starting in SJPDP con destino Santiago de Compostela, the most memorable and uplifting of journeys, both physically and spiritually.

Last year, I posted daily accounts of my own pilgrimage, done the year before, as a kind of ritual to help me relive and strengthen the insights gained on that journey.

You can see these reflections at: el-camino-frances/topic4061.html

That topic started in a very mundane way, but as each day progressed, and as others responded, it morphed into something more creative and reflective, especially towards the end. In many ways that development replicated my actual camino.

Anyway, I hope you find something helpful among that series of postings.

The Camino and its endless chain of pilgrims is always with me.

Best wishes.

I am glad you found something useful and thought-provoking.

If even one person can gain an insight from my writing, I am well content and my camino will have resulted in benefits to another, not just to myself.

The camino provides "time out" from our normal lives for reflection and it also offers physical and mental challenges to help us get to know our inner selves better.

One woman told me that she was walking the camino to give thanks for all the good things in her life, which is another wonderful motivation.

The camino is a metaphor for life: There are no guarantees that we will complete it in good health when we start out. We experience happiness and sadness, pain and pleasure, friendship and loneliness. We lose our way, but we are always put back on the right path. All the while we grow and develop in ways that may not be apparent until long after we have returned home.
