Pilgrim badge gift :-)

Time of past OR future Camino
Ponferrada-SdC 2017
SJPdP-SdC 2022
Porto-SdC 2023
Just wanted to share this picture of my badge (next to the backpack's logo).
A colleague bought one for me and my camino companion (also a colleague: started as a friend but we keep working together, can't escape her...!) when he heard we were preparing to walk. A wonderful act of spontaneous kindness that means the badge is accompanying every preparatory walk I make, including the cloud shrouded summit of Pen-y-Fan yesterday morning. He knows the fella who makes them from historical examples, the original of this is C14th/C15th from London, and that's very apt as we're all archaeologists.
It's lead-free pewter and features St James as a pilgrim on a scallop shell.
Love it!

A selection of Camino Jewellery
...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Very cool indeed.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Amy, Can you share the contact info/website for the fella that makes these? Looks like a great gift for other future pilgrims.
Thanks!!

I do not always carry a shell on my rucksack these days but I do have a small pewter shell on my hat. When I am on a pilgrimage I never feel properly dressed without a hat and a stick - a sort of uniform for me and I think my shell is not all that different from my old Army cap badge :-)

@Nanc I live in the UK and bought mine from an Ebay supplier some years ago. I've forgotten the seller's details but this looks pretty much identical to mine. It is fixed by two pins which plug into spring retainer clips on the reverse side. Like very large earring clips.
