Phone card in Spain

When I travel in Europe, normally I can get an international phone card to call home (Bangkok) from public phones or hotel phones. These cards are giving special phone rate - much cheaper than the national phone companies.
Is there such card in Spain that can be used with mobile phone? My children insist we carry our cell phone with us on the camino so that they can get in touch. I don't know how to send text msg so I need to rely on phone card. Any suggestions?
Thanks

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Hi there,
We have had several questions about phones earlier, both related to mobile phones and phone cards. Below is a list of links to some of these threads.

- This would be good if you call from a Spanish phone. It will be expensive to use this card with your phone from Bangkok in Spain. Anyone tried the card from http://www.onspanishtime.com? (I have not used it)

Not sure if this becomes to technical for you, if so ask your children to have a look at it... :-) I know my mom would have problems understanding some of this... :-)

Un saudo,

You can buy a pre-paid Spanish sim card to put in your own phone (make sure your phone is unlocked before you go!) - no problems. Link on my website http://www.PilgrimSupplies.org .

Everyone does the pilgrimage differently but do beware of too much contact with home. The process that takes you from home/world mentality to something more sublime needs a lot of silence and separateness, so do take care there or it can be just a long walk in the park.
