Only have 7-10 days!

Myself and a friend have always wanted to do the pilgrimage..unfortunately this year can only get away from jobs for 7-10 days..any suggestions as to which route we could do this time? many thanks

7 to 10 days

You could do the last 100kms - about 5 or 6 days - and earn the Compostela, plus have a day or two in Santiago.

Consider starting at Sarria which is 114kms from Santiago.

If the spiritual element of the pilgrimage is important to you, O Cebreiro is a good place to start - 152km from Santiago. You can get the bus from Santiago to Piedrafita and there's a taxi service up the hill if you don't want to walk the 5km to the village.

How far do you reckon you can walk a day? What would be your limit and what would be pushing it?

Last year, I walked with a group from O'Cebreiro to Santiago over seven days - it was reasonable but a definite stretch. Doing the same thing over eight days would let you have a break or a couple of light days in the middle and should be feasible for people of reasonable fitness - it's a great starting point (my avatar pic is the view from O'Cebreiro on the first morning of walking).

Beautiful photo! I'm not sure but we are reasonably fit and should be able to walk a good pace... if I had it in mind I could prepare myself over the summer ( we plan to go Sept)

This is what my husband and I are planning to do early July. Any chance anyone knows what route Sarria is part of?
