I sometimes study courses on-line at the Coursera website, and I thought I would recommend one on here called The Age of Cathedrals:
It focuses on French cathedrals and I have just been learning about the beautiful rose windows in Notre Dame de Paris. I am so relieved to see they have been saved by the Parisian firefighters.
The course is from Yale and is made up of short videos with subtitles and transcripts, short readings, quizzes and short writing assignments which you can skip if you wish. There are also discussion forums to talk with other students.

The course can be followed for free or you can pay a pretty reasonable 48 Eur to verify properly your work and receive a certificate.

Prepare for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island, Oct 27 to Nov 2

Thank you, Frances. I'll follow up on this as it looks interesting. Would be good to be able to understand a bit behind the Gothic cathedrals when I come across one on my travels. It's easy enough to say "Oh, that Cathedral has a Gothic influence" when you see one, yet I don't really know much about the era - yet.

I did the course and enjoyed it. The system of having your essay corrected by fellow students and having to correct their essays is a bit odd at first if you are not used to it. There's a small problem with how one of the essays is framed and it was annoying that the course owners did nothing to correct it but that's a minor nuisance. I learn what the "forest" in a large French Gothic cathedral is - a very up to date topic. I didn't bother to ask for the certificate but happily paid the enrolment fee to support the project.

I recommend this course.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I've always been interested in architecture, especially of cathedrals. So i'm starting it today. I haven't taken a course outside of career specific ones in many years, so I'm really excited. Thanks for sharing the link.
