I will be doing a lot of driving solo from the UK to Spain, so I thought I’ll offer my spare seat on BlaBlaCar app (first time I’m using this as I have seen it mentioned quite a few times here). Unfortunately I don’t seem to be able to share links to the rides I have posted, so here are some of my travel plans…

If anyone happened to be flying into Bordeaux from anywhere else in the world, and would like a lift into Irun/San Sebastián on Thu 26th May, let me know!

I plan on leaving Bordeaux early morning so I can pre-order the world famous tortilla at Bar Nestor (you have to walk in and book the tortilla in person at 12pm, and come back at 1pm).

I would also be travelling from San Sebastián to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe (that cool monastery on an islet, site of Game of Thrones’ “Dragonstone”) via Bilbao on Saturday 28th May in the morning and back the same day. So for those who arrive at Bilbao and would like to go to San Sebastián/Irun, let me know! Although it may be more convenient to get airport shuttle bus (I don’t know what the bus times are like).

I visited Gaztelugatxe a few years ago and wrote this post. A BlaBlaCar ride would have been so handy!

That is a very handy post with bus/train info! Yeah, I was told the car park may get full so I changed my ticket times from 1230 to 1030! The site opens at 10. There are a lot of GoT themed tours on offer now so I expect it is a lot busier now than the last time you were there.

The bridge (and hence the hermitage in the island) is currently closed due to landslide but I read that it should reopen on 25th April (5 more days!).

Okay, so if any pilgrims want to have a rest day and want to visit this place and need a ride let me know 🤪

I think if not travelling with Fuji (my dog), a bus would've been so much better. Just checked the invoice for my tolls... that stretch of motorway between San Sebastian and Bilbao was the most expensive! For a 1.5h drive, cost me €12.35! So €24.70 for return!

BlaBla wise, had someone who wanted a ride from San Sebastian to Bilbao airport, but she tested positive for COVID, but still travelling to Lanzarote, and asked if I was okay with that (err no). And another who wanted a ride back from the airport to San Sebastian, but by then I have decided to have a little day trip to Bermeo after visiting the castle, which was a very nice day out, and didn't want the time pressure to have to pick up someone.

Hi I'm travelling to Burgos to walk part of the Camino Frances next year and my options seems to be fly into Santander and coach to Burgos, or fly into Madrid, then coach to Burgos. Don't think...
Hello! I’ve been browsing the forum and there’s plenty of info for baggage transfers from stage to stage, where you pick it up daily, give it back and move on, however what I’m after is a service...
