- Time of past OR future Camino
- Future - Frances -July (2015)!
I know this has sort of been asked before but I'm not quite finding the info I'm looking for so here goes.
If doing the Norte, I would like to detour to Leibana to see the True Cross. However I would not want to then carry on down to the Frances from there. I would like to make a tour of the Picos Europa.
Has anybody here done any of the hills in the Picos? And then taken the Ruta de la Reconquista to pick up the Primitivo?
I am thinking of a route something like going up the ridge above Leibana along to Fuente de, overnighting, then going up the cable car and either through that big pass or over the tops to Sotres. Then goong through the Cares pass.
The decision would be whether then to walk over the hills to Covadonga which looks like an amazing place before getting onto the Primitivo. Or to head down to the Frances having done the whole Cares.
I have 37 days and am leaving from Biarritz.
I am really attracted to the Norte and the Primitivo but don't think I could walk past the Picos without going through them.
Also the opportunity to see the true cross seems too good to pass up.
If any walkers who have been there could give me an indication if this is realistic and compare to a day on the Scottish hills that would be really helpful.
I'm waiting for maps in the post but have been scouring google earth and a mapping app I have which is really good. The area does have some gnarly bits but also seems to have a lot of dirt roads and trails.
Thanks
