Brought tears to my eyes. I was only there last October, when it was still permissible but what a difference. What struck me was the number of pilgrims (although I guess that wasn’t high season,) and the communal meals. We missed out in all but a couple of places as the communal kitchens were closed. Some days when I walked, I only say a handful of pilgrims until I reached an open auberge. Not a problem, but nice to have company every now and then. So wanting to go again.
