Greetings to all, I'm 'Camelman' (64 years young) a very recent member of this Forum, although I have been a frequent visitor in the past.

My pseudoynm of 'Camelman' is because I have been an 'Ex-Pat' for most of my working life; either in Africa, or laterly the last 25 years in the Middle East. Now living in rural South West France.

I am currently planning to begin my 'Camino' in mid September this year from Canterbury to Newhaven across to Dieppe and down to Rouen, Chartres, Tours and then by the Via d'la Charroux and Via Ecolisma to re-join the Vézelay at Mussidan and onto SJdP.

The 'CF' is planned for the following Spring.

I would be interested to receive any advice from any 'BackPackers' amongst the Forum members as to their experiences whilst transiting through France. In Spain, I will still carry a 'Bivi', just in case, but will stay in the refuges etc.,

Many Thanks

Robert

Train for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island March 16-19
Welcome.
Breaking your journey from Cantebury to Santiago into two parts will mean you avoid the declining weather of the Spanish winter. Although the photos from people who have started and finished around Christmas, or New Year are remarkable.

Having made the commitment,
Your Camino has already started.
Enjoy the pre-amble.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Many Thanks to the two Davids' and falcon for your Welcome messages. I hope I can contribute to the Forum in the future after completeing my Camino, which will be, Inshallah, in 2012.

Do I qualify to join the Class of 2011 or 2012?

I could start and complete my 'Camino' from home here in France this year, but feel as an 'Englishman' my starting point should be in England. Deciding between London, Canterbury and Winchester was difficult, but Canterbury won; proberably the result of too much 'Chaucer' at school!

Thinking back, maybe I should have started from London afterall............
