New donativo albergue: Casa Catolico, Lisbon-Porto stretch

Hello fellow pilgrims! There is a new albergue on the Lisbon-Porto stretch, located just 50km south of Porto. Opened now - mid May 2019. This is a donativo with the common meal for the pilgrims in the evening and breakfast in the morning. The hospitaliero there is a local pilgrim whom I met while walking between Santarem to Porto in autumn 2017. I was there last in Jan 2019 when they were busy working on the project. I loved the house and the garden there!

WHAT THEY OFFER/PROVIDE:
* A typical portuguese tile house.
* 4 rooms with 10 individual beds, available for the moment + 4 bunk beds = 18 places in total
* 2 complete bathrooms with hot showers.
* 1 fully-equipped kitchen.
* 1 washing tank and areas to dry outside/indoor.
* Small pharmacy / first aids with things most common needed.
* Drinks (tea and coffee), snacks/fruit and community dining (pilgrims dinner).
* Quiet area and relaxed ambience.
* Safe bycicle parking.
* 2 large outside terraces.
* 1 orchard with 26 trees (mostly fruit): cherry, pomegranate, mandarin, chestnut, figs, blackberry, peaches, lemons, oranges, apples, laurel, camellia.
* At 150 m: pharmacy, ATM, masseur, supermarket, butchery, bicycle shop and bakery. 500 meters - bicycle repair shop.

They host pilgrims walking both Caminos to Santiago and to Fatima. Credentials are required.
Walking or cycling. Dogs are welcome!
They are planning to be open until 30th November.
Check-in: 1pm-9pm. Dinner: 8pm.
Breakfast: 7.30-8.00am. Check-out: by 9am

The albergue is already open and they've started to receive pilgrims.
And they are also looking for volunteers!

yes, they are trying to get info out now, all the apps and Via Lusitana website may not have got it yet but they are working on it now. Gronze will update the info with the details of Casa Catolico included at the end of the month.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
