New albergue with stables to open in Piñor

Too many and too often!
A new public albergue is to open soon in Piñor. An unusual feature is that it will have a stable block to accommodate five horses. A lot of work has been done recently to make the Sanabres accessible for those wishing to make a pilgrimage by horse.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
This is welcome news as it may make up for the fact that the Dozon Albergue remains closed.
I don't imagine the stables will get much use from pilgrims but what do I know.

I met a group of Portuguese pilgrims on the Sanabrés the last time I was there. They were traveling with a support van, which was responsible for all the cooking, getting the horses to some place to pasture for the night, etc. I was stunned by the amount of work required to take a horse to the camino, but I was the happy beneficiary of several excellent meals cooked by the van folks. The horses, it turned out, rarely traveled much further than we would walk in a day!

I had to look for the location and see it is about 3.5 km after Cea. Not mentioned in Gronze yet, but I am certain they will see the same article as Bradypus did.

When the Sanabrés really gets crowded, the stables would be a good overflow space.

I don’t know how the numbers break down, but I would imagine that most Sanabrés pilgrims would want to go via Oseira, thus bypassing Piñor, but, like you, WP, what do I know.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Sounds good but its really somewhere closer to Castro Dozen we need, an albergue or hostel. Cea is a good place to stay .

It's a pity about the location just a few kilometres after Cea and on the less popular branch of the Camino. You'd wonder who makes these decisions. The building where the Castro Dozon albergue used to be is now a school for landscape gardeners so it doesn't look like that one's gonna reopen any time soon.
