I just learned about this new albergue in Abadín (just after Mondoñedo on the Camino del Norte).

Online reservation is available and €15,- / bed seems to be the price. More on their site here:

Hi, Ivar, your post made me remember that I have heard about another recent albergue opening on the Norte. It's Reposo del Andayón, before Ribadesella.

Hope all these new albergues do not portend a huge uptick in Norte pilgrims (at least not till after I'm finished this July ).

I get the train on the 21 of April to Irun.
Begin the day after my walk on the Northe and the Primotivo.

Laurie, maybe it's "build it and they will come," vs. a the large increase in pilgrim traffic already existing.

I stayed at Xabarin for 2 days and can say it is the best albergue I have seen on the Norte. Brand new, perfectly clean, really nice owners, located next to 2 restaurants and 2 mercados....

Fully recommended!
