New albergue between Villaviciosa and Valdediós

A couple of nights ago I stayed in the new donativo albergue about an hour on from Villaviciosa, just outside the village of Amandi, and a bit before the split between the Primitivo and the Norte. It opened, I think, this September, and has 12 (bunk) beds and 2 loo/showers. It's run by a very nice couple, Sergio and Edurne, who have young children and a lovely border collie (I come from the border that border collies come from, so am always pleased to see them).

I had been meaning to carry on to the albergue at Valdediós, but wasn't 100% sure it was open. It was, but I'm glad I stayed at Amandi anyway, as the first tour of the 9th century church at VdD is not until 11am, so I'd have had a long wait in the morning with no coffee, and Sergio does a communal evening meal, which I shared with him and my new best friend Antonío from Madrid, who I first met in Llanes, and very good coffee for breakfast.

The telephone number is 646516846. They also have a washing machine and drier.

I liked them and the place very much and hope they succeed.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

Alan:

Thanks for the update. I checked gronze.com and their Hostel is already listed on the website with a phone # and email address. How is your Norte going?

Joe
