Most accurate weather apps

Time of past OR future Camino
French Way + Invierno April May 2024
Hi,
I’m looking at going on the camino from SJPDP this time next year. So I can get an idea of max and min temps, rain and weather conditions, what have people found to be the most accurate weather apps along the way. How far out do they remain accurate?
Thanks in advance

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
WeatherSpark is pretty good for historical weather data.

MeteoBlue has a good reputation for accuracy.

Thanks very much

Join Camino Cleanup: Logroño to Burgos May 2025 and Astorga to O'Cebreiro in June.

ELTiempo.es works very well. You can get forecasts for specific locations hourly and several days ahead. You can also view the development of weather systems on maps.

Can you please look up the weather over Pyrenees from St Jean pied de port for this Saturday april 15 th. My weather report only gives me St jean pied de port and I know it’s close . It’s shows 50% chance of rain . I’ll try to get El Tiempo app.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Try this app. It's free and gives you detailed forecasts for any place with a name

Remember one thing going over the mountain. If the weather in St. Jean is bad it will most likely be much worse as you climb higher. Make sure you check with the pilgrim office before you leave in the morning. In 2015 I walked from Le Puy and when my friend and I got to St. Jean we planned on continuing the next morning. It rained that night and when we got up the next morning it was pretty chilly, windy and a hard steady rain. This was about September 23 or 4. We saw pilgrims we had met the day before telling us to get dressed and get moving. Max and I were staying in a little rented room on the same street as the pilgrim office. Kind of a dump really. We looked at each other and went back to bed. The weather cleared in the afternoon and we found the fantastic Albergue Beilari where we spent the night. We also found an awesome pastry shop. The next morning was sunny and cool and could not be any better walking weather. We walked up that first 8k eating our 30 Euros worth of pastries. Each bite more delicious than the last. After walking from Le Puy the stage to Roncesvalles was a piece of cake!!!
A few days later we met up with some of the pilgrims who started that rain soaked day. They said that day was absolutely miserable and by the time they got to Orisson they thought it was like the end of the world. When in doubt or it could be really bad, don't walk. Wait a day.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

It's not so much the app but the meteorological model used - just have a quick look at "Numerical weather prediction" on Wikipedia. Two things to remember; forecasts become unreliable about 5 days ahead and local anomalies are very difficult to predict.
Generally I find the Windy app most useful because it's combines graphics with numerical information and has the option to use different models or to compare these models. For climate information, as someone suggested, Weatherspark is good. Finally "Climate is what you expect, weather is what you get"

One of two app I use live for storm chasing and asset protection is windy. It can be as in depth as you are savy to use..or very simple.

The other app is Radar Scope.a US centric app which has expanded to certain pacific and european countries.

The Windy app is world wide real time info so you can see whats on or over the horizon. Weather example from 5 minutes ago
