Making a more permanent condolences book for Denise's family

Many of you have written on the thread Ivar started to express your condolences to Denise's parents and brother. The idea has always been to share these many heartfelt expressions of sympathy with the family, and we are now trying to figure out how to do that.

One possibility would be for Ivar simply to print out the pages and send them to the family. But we're also wondering if a more permanent format would be appropriate.

I know there are many artistic and artsy-craftsy members of the forum, but I do not fit into that category. I am wondering if any of you would like to offer suggestions and/or actually do the work involved in turning these pages into a "scrapbook" of some kind, which we can then send to the family. If you have ideas about what kind of a format would be appropriate, of if you would be willing to actually provide the man/womanpower, please PM me and we will carry on the discussion. I am fairly confident that forum members will willingly bankroll the costs involved, but let's first figure if people think a memorial book would be appropriate and go from there.

Buen camino, Laurie

You might consider an electronic scrapbook using a program such a Powerpoint. The comments could be placed next to or on top of photographs from the Camino, with or without music. That would also allow for links to the beautiful movie by @Pelgrimpaul and other tributes. The comments could be cut/pasted into a different format to attach the name to the comment before being inserted into the presentation.

Since I don't have camino photos of my own yet, I volunteer to prep up at least one of the three "pages" of comments to provide to someone for the presentation. Or even if a physical scrapbook is done instead.

Hi Laurie. I don't have an artistic bone in my body so I'm not much help with that. However I do have access (friend of a friend) to a traditional and very experienced bookbinder, if we wanted to make a hard copy of some kind and present it in a bespoke way. I'd be happy to do what I can.

Slightly off topic but related - Your idea of a scrapbook made me think of all the petitions left on pieces of paper around the chapel at the English Mass in Santiago. Am I right in thinking that these are all burned in a service at the end of the chaplaincy season? Perhaps a similar thing could happen to the prayers and wishes from the condolence book as a way of closing it.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
