Willie here,
I am back home after completing the Camino del Norte. I took 18 days from Irun so it was pretty intensive walking but time was a factor. Only bussed one section from east of Gijon to Salinas in the west, as walkers I had met said it was a nightmare section. The trails were overgrown and a lot of it was through industrial areas, it looked like Dantes Inferno from the bus.
I only regret that I did not have the time to take it more slowly, but there will always be a next time (hopefully), if my wife lets me. The last 4 days heading inland from Ribadeo were great as the camino is mostly on rural tracks, well away from the dreaded N634.
I will post a fuller description shortly.
