My son and I cycled the Camino this May from León to Santiago and used Jacotrans León for our luggage transfer service which was far from satisfactory. Next year we plan to cycle from SJPP to Burgos and also walk from Sarria to Santiago . For both we want to use luggage transfer . Has anyone any recommendations please.
Thanks in advance

Despite paying extra for moving oversized items ( bike boxes ) they then said they wanted another 240 Euros as they had not appreciated the size ( although all the dimensions were given to them . I don’t like having a gun put to my head . In the end the people who arranged this and accommodation ( S cape ) sorted it and there was no additional charge .

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
We've used Correos (the Spanish Post Office) a few times when walking with my elderly father.
Been excellent each time ie efficient, professional, flexible, and modestly priced.
Arrangements can also be changed at quite short notice, if required.

I am using Correos on my current Camino (three days left!) and they have been flawless so far.

I used Camino Cómodo with success after JacoTrans failed me. However, to be fair, later on I helped out a fellow peregrina whose luggage was lost by Camino Cómodo. Ask a hospitalero for advice.

@trecile makes a good point. The pack transport companies are geared to moving luggage the 15-25km or so down the line that their average customer requires. Moving a bicigrinos pack 50 - 75km or more per day is a challenge. Moving a bike box in stages just seems odd, to me. Either ship it direct to Santiago via Correos or ditch it and buy a new one in Santiago

Pilbeo- top notch- download the app

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

We just completed 38 days with luggage transfer using caminofacil. Not one glitch! Bag was there every step of the way. Highly recommend !

Hi, I used luggage transfer (didn't take notice of the service name), had no issues & for €4 a trip thought it was brilliant between Sarria & Santiago. Cheers.

The bike boxes are not disposable. They are purpose made to protect expensive bikes . The carrier knew from the outset what the distances were but thanks for your comment anyway.

What went wrong with Jacotrans service? I used them last October with no problems.
I too had used Jacotrans, with no problems, for 3 previous caminos. This year, using Jacotrans with the 1st transporter was wonderful. However, on the next stage, that started just before Burgos, I found Eduardo, or someone that worked for him, to be quite nasty on 2 different occasions . I was shocked, as that had never happened to me before. Once when I forgot to put my money in (I understand being unhappy but instead of calling or just a reminder to pay he next day, the note was nasty. I paid the oversight the next day as well as left a tip for the inconvenience.
The second time, as we were heading to our hotel in Burgos, we received a call that our hotel did not have our reservation and they would not be leaving our bags. I called the hotel. Turns out they reserved one night on the day I called (about 5 days previously) instead of reserving two nights on the needed days. I was just a few minutes away, and was given the impression that they would drive away with my bag, instead of waiting for me. Also, they assumed I was at fault. Instead of being diplomatic or helpful, this person was quite nasty.
So, at least, for me, during the second area of Jacotrans- transport, I will use a Correos.
I suspect they probably do quite well, so long as there's not any hiccups.
I also noted a very very nasty text on WhatsApp that was meant for somebody else, but sent to me by mistake.
