We're walking from Switzerland to Santiago de Compostela. Our original plan was to walk along the via Gebennensis to Le Puy, then from Le Puy to Arthez-de-Béarn on the via Podiensis, and from there cut across to Bayonne via Orthez and Peyrhorade. Then from Bayonne we would follow the coast to Irun and join the Camino del Norte.
The bit between Arthez-de-Béarn to Bayonne proved too hard to plan: not enough gîtes, walking on main roads, etc. So we decided to follow the Podiensis all the way to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port.
We will then take the train/bus/Blablacar to Bayonne from SJPDP.
Unfortunately, as a result of the stages we are planning, and because we cannot walk long stages, we will not be able to stay in SJPDP, which is what the Miam Miam Dodo calls "un crime de lèse-majesté" .
As we intend to arrive by 10am in SJPDP, and take the 4:31pm train to Bayonne, we will still be able to discover and enjoy this beautiful town. But we don't want to carry our backpacks all day long.
So after this long preamble
, is there somewhere in SJPDP where we can safely and securely leave our backpacks for the day?
Apologies for such a long post
Bon chemin!
