Hi! I'm leaving from LA too - though not until 8/23.
Landing in San Sebastian on 8/24.
Planning to begin the Camino on 8/26 (want to enjoy a day in SS)
Vacillating between walking the Camino Frances or Norte.
Frances if I'm alone.
Norte if I can find a walking mate.

There will be plenty of people to meet and walk with on the Norte at this time of year, you will easily make friends and form a camino family. I set out to walk alone but quickly met many lovely people, several of whom became life long friends and I have since visited in their countries, or they have come to visit me here in Scotland.
