Hey guys, random I know, but I have 2 hours at the Porto airport and will need to leave my beloved poles behind after 35 days of walking the del Norte + Camino Fisterre. If there happens to be someone who might need them here, I'll happily gift them to a pilgrim about to start on the way or needing some extra support. The offer obviously expires at 15:20 when I need to check in for my flight.

They're twistys that extend for people up to 185cm height. The metal and rubber tips are a little worn but still fine for another 300km or so. I used them everyday on the Norte and they were excellent!

Takers?

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Or, if you have time, maybe drop them off at one of the pilgrim albergues, for somebody else to pick up? Otherwise, the Airporto Hostel is about 10 mins walk away from the airport.

Thanks Jill, I'd not realised the caminho went so close past the airport! It was nice to spend a final 50m following yellow arrows! I've run them down to the Airporto Hostel. Thanks for the tip; I arrived this afternoon by car share and didn't know where to start looking for an Albergue and it just seemed like a massive waste to leave them in Santiago or the airport to grow the piles of abandoned poles!

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
So glad you found a temporary home for them. Hopefully someone else will adopt them soon.
When my sister and I walked into a café on the Francés a few years ago, the proprietor took one look at my sister’s pathetic attempt of a walking stick that she’d picked up in the forest, went out back, and came back with the perfect stick that a previous peregrino had left behind.
The proprietor was as delighted to say goodbye to it as my sister was on adopting “Dave 2”.
Alls well that ends well.
Jill
