Flew from London (Stansted) to Biarritz today on RyanAir. Flight was only 2/3rds full, masks worn by 10@% of the people at the airport 100% of the non-eating time.

Covid vaccination cert (mine is an American CDC card) and French health sworn statement checked by staff at gate as we boarded and then again by police on the jetway itself, about 100’ past first check. Upon landing, both checked by French police prior to immigration. All checks were pretty quick and not in-depth, but they definitely checked.

Deplaning, document checks, and immigration took less than 20 minutes at Biarritz. Probably 6-10 pilgrims at the airport catching various rides.

We stayed the night in Biarritz and it was as active as ever. Signs said the French Sanitaire Pass was mandatory for restaurants, but we ate on a patio and no one asked to see ours. Which was good, because it’s been a month snd mine is still in progress per the French governmemt web site 🙄p

Despite Ryanair's reputation by some people, I flew the same route as you in 2019. They were very efficient as were Stansted and Biarritz airport - no problems. Hope to do the same route again in 2022.

On my last Camino (2023) I noticed that there were lots of tourists. It reminded me of a couple of quotes that I have read since my first Camino (2015) “A tourist demands, a pilgrim is grateful”...
