Hi, fellow pilgrims!

I plan to arrive at SJPDP on Sunday, September 23 at 19:15 and walk to Roncesvalles the following morning.

What accommodations would you recommend booking in advance in SJPDP and Roncesvalles?

Thank you for your help.

I read that the accommodations may be crowded at this time.

Hi, davebugg

Gîte Makila and Beilari are great choices.

I have booked Gîte Makila at Booking.com.

Thank you for your help!

Both are very well recommended by past guests at Booking.com.

Second @davebugg.

If you night in Roncesvalles do attend Mass. It is such a nice kick-off to the way.

Buen camino.

Indeed, attending Mass in Roncesvalles will be such a nice kick-off to the way.

I will certainly do that.

Thank you for your recommendation.

Divine inspiration in our Way.

I love Beilari and love the monastery in Roncevalles, but it should be booked ahead. I also stayed one night up in the Pyrenees at Orisson and was very glad I did. Plus it was a super experience.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Is booking ahead really needed late September? I was there, and there were plenty of places to stay in SJPdP, and the Roncesvalles albergue is huge. A lovely place with it's thick stone walls and IKEA interior! It was never really a problem to find a bed in the Camino in September 2011. Most places didn't allow booking ahead. Has it changed that much since then?

And the Pilgrims Mass in beautiful SJPdP is also very nice!
