We really enjoyed this section of the Santiago pilgrimage which begins in the historic city of Le Puy-en-Velay and covers a total distance of 210km to Conques, a beautiful medieval village which nestles on the banks of the Lot River. From there we visited Rocamadour, France’s second most famous medieval pilgrimage site (after Mont St. Michel).
This journey gave us an appreciation of the feminine aspect within Christian tradition with visits to shrines built to worship Mary, sometimes in the guise of the Black Madonna and also to the shrine of St. Foy at Conques.

Even if you aren’t yet planning to walk Le Puy to Conques, this fully illustrated guide will show you what’s it’s like to be on one of the world’s Great Walks.
