Hi

I am flying from Australia in September and will need 2 nights in Le Puy before starting my walk. I want pilgrim accom, near the Cathedral. Can you recommend accom that will allow a 2 night stay? Also, is it the same in France as in Spain - 1 night and then move on?

Thanks
Susie

This site has the LePuy route, and the lodgings along the way, and the contact info. Everything needed to make reservations. Quotes prices. Generally duplicates info from Miam Miam Dodo but online, and only for those lodgings with email and web sites. Therefore, does not include all lodgings available.

I never found a lodging in France that restricted me to a single night on general principle; however, many were fully booked the following night. So it definitely pays to call ahead and make your reservations a day or two in advance at minimum.

For lodging in Le Puy proper, since your arrival time is confirmed, now is not too soon to make reservations.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
We departed the "Original" Capital of Australia Susie in 2010 and walked Le Puy to St.JPDP
It remains our favourite of the 4 completed.
The accommodation is completely different from Spain , we used demi- pensions 80% of the time.
We walked very slow early, 15km a day for the first 3 and had a wonderful experience as we took in this lovely way.
**I think you would have no troubles whatsoever in booking 2 nights if there were beds available.
There are beautiful cities to enjoy , especially if you time them for the weekends.
Buen Camino and safe flight,
David

Hi Kitsambler
Only one information: inside your message you write about a web site. In this web site there are not all the accomodations.
I think the best is to use a guide book.

Hi All
I am planning to walk from Le Puy with 2 friends in September next year. Coming from South Africa, it is necessary for us to have a reservation at a gite or hotel. Is the Miam Miam Dodo available in english? If so, where would I be able to get one?
Jenny

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

"Best" depends on one's particular needs. A printed guidebook such as MMD usually has more complete listings; but the directory-type website is more easily and inexpensively accessible for those outside Europe. It also has links to the websites of hospitality establishments, so it provides quite a deep level of information.

Although MMD is only in French, it uses lots of icons and a very limited vocabulary so with a small French dictionary and 30 minutes of look-up you will be off and running! Besides, it is a good way to learn basic pilgrim vocabulary in French. Can be ordered online at Amazon.com or the Euro sites, Amazon.fr among them.

Warning! There are three different MMD editions: one for the Arles route, one for the Camino Frances in Spain, and the one you want for the Chemin St Jacques from Le Puy.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Hi Jenny, I recommend the MMD, although it is in French. Very easy to understand. I ordered it from www.csj.org.uk - wait for the 2014 edition that (I think) will be available at the beginning of next year. You can pm me for more info (or to chat!). Dolfina

MMD for GR65 is due for release in December (according to publishers website).
You can pre order via amazon.co.uk
Buen Camino
