Time of past OR future Camino
April2024
Hello Camino family! Walking from Tui to Santiago , starting April 26th, completed by May 2nd. As I watch weather forecasts for those days, it appears there will be rain almost each day, and nights can be about 45degrees Fahrenheit. Now I’m concerned what to pack( besides some rain cover, poncho, etc) My concern is the other clothes and shoes! I can’t imagine walking in wet shoes and damp clothes for 8 plus days. Anyone done the walk on those dates? Or close to them in the past? I know weather is u predictable, but general daily and evening weather for very late April , very early may will help me decide what I need! Thsnks all!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I don't think any reputable weather site would be making daily forecasts that far in advance. As you later say, weather is unpredictable. But one can almost always count, no matter what time of year, on encountering some rain in Galicia.

Wet shoes need not be a problem, just dry them at night by stuffing them with old newspaper and placing them somewhere warm overnight. The albergue will probably have a place to do this.

Make sure that you have good wool socks and you will be fine.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

I completed Porto to Santiago 2 days ago. Out of the 11 days it took me, it rained at varying degrees of intensity and duration the vast majority of the days. 1 day no rain at all, 1 day maybe 2 showers, the rest of the days there was rain at various times during each day, from an hour or two here and there, to an entire afternoon, or even most of a day.

I had a whale of a time.

I’d love for every day to be dry but I honestly don’t think trying to juggle dates because of a very long range forecast is going to get you anywhere. It rains a lot in Galicia, that’s just a fact. Good rain gear is essential - i actually walked in a Rab Downpour 2 jacket AND an Altus raincoat. Everything dried fine for the next day wherever I was staying (albergues), including my Scarpa goretex shoes (stuffing them with squashed up newspaper is always good)

If you want nailed on sun and dry weather in spring in Spain I think you’d be needing to switch to southern Spain.
