I find myself in Spain with a week to spare. I was planning to walk in Andalucia in the expectation that it would be much warmer than Northern Spain but looking at the forecast it seems that the next couple of weeks in Galicia are not too shabby. Cool but generally dry and with some sunshine. So, I thought, why not jump on a plane and spend a week walking in Galicia with the end point of Santiago. Maybe now is the time to walk from Sarria. I tried the Frances a couple of years ago but bailed as the number of pilgrims grew. I just felt that I was part of a herd. That was a September/October walk and maybe now I could walk the Frances from Sarria without that same sense of disappearing in the crowd? This is not about a Compostela but I love Santiago and that walk into the square.

Experiences of the last 100k in January?
Other suggestions?

Too many and too often!

I walked the Frances in January 2023. Very quiet. For most of the way from SJPDP I found myself in a bubble of about 12 to 15 pilgrims. Many of them Korean. The Camino actually became less obviously busy after Sarria as we were better spread out amongst the open albergues. On a couple of days after Sarria I could have counted the others I saw on one hand.

Thank you, Bradypus, this is very helpful.
Whilst I can enjoy the company of other pilgrims and I have no wish to make a solitary journey, I enjoy even more the experience of Spain; the language, the culture, the history.

I walked last January with a university group. All the Xunta albergues were open. Fewer coffee stops. Very pleasant despite the rain almost daily. There were usually a few other pilgrims besides us.

Thank you.
Beginning to look like this might be a good option.
It is certainly something that appeals, I am just reluctant to face or follow a constant stream of pilgrims.
