Italian mobile phonenumbers?

Next month we will continue our via francigena in Italy. Does anyone know how I can recognise Italian mobile telephonenumbers? It might be handy to make reservations via whatsapp.

Mobile numbers in Italy start with the digit 3.
It took me longer to type this than to Google it. But now we both know..

I would just try to send a WhatsApp message. If the WhatsApp system tells you that they aren't on WhatsApp, then you will have to email or call.

If you’re using the WisePilgrim app, they show whether the albergue uses WhatsApp, found it about 90% accurate. Even if it’s not listed I’d follow the advice from @trecile and send a WhatsApp message, you may be surprised. Also, Italy country code is +39.
