Gearing up for a New Year adventure
Mayo Advertiser, January 11, 2013.

What better New Year’s resolution than to get fit and take a walking challenge in aid of charity.

Heart and stroke charity Croí is gearing up for two more exciting trips along the Camino in 2013. These seasonal trips will take place in summer and autumn (May and September) and the charity is joining up with the Great Outdoors in Galway city which will offer gear advice, discounts and Camino packs to each participant who joins the Croí adventure.

The Camino is made up of a network of ancient pilgrim routes from all around Europe, which culminate at the final destination point of Santiago de Compostela, in northwest Spain. The Croí trips cover two different routes in May and September. Both trips are eight day, all inclusive, packages, with a walking distance of approximately 120km. These trips are open to everyone, but a moderate level of fitness is required. By offering these trips, not only are people helping to raise vital funds for the charity, but they are also looking after their heart by getting active.

A date to put in your diary for next year is January 24 when Croí will be organising a special Camino talk in the Heart and Stroke Centre, Moyola Lane, Newcastle, Galway. For more information on these trips, call Karen on 091 893 773, email karen@croi.ie or log onto http://www.croi.ie
