Hello all, I'm new to this forum.....actually I'm new to any forum and I'm looking for some insight on the Via Augusta. I am planning to embark on the Via de la Plata at the end of September and discovered this small Camino from Cadiz to Sevilla. Has anyone travelled this path and what was your experience?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I have not but another pre-Plata option that I have walked is the Vía Serrana, from Gibraltar to Sevilla. To me it seemed like the more interesting of the two, so that’s why I chose it.

By pure coincidence, I published my ‘daily diary’ about the Vía Serrana yesterday:

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Thats awesome, thanks for the info folks!!

Welcome to the forum.
Several forum members have walked it, @Kev&Kath for example (Once you've made six posts you'll be able to PM them directly.) Hopefully they’ll come across this thread, although anyone interested is more likely to find it if you ask the Moderator‘s to change the title of the thread to something like 'Seeking info on the Via Augusta' . It will help future readers too

I appreciate the forum search function is not the best, personally what I do is go to the search function (magnifying glass top right) tap on advanced search, and then enter just one or two keywords. Tap on titles only, then search. If that doesn't bring up any results I then try the titles and first posts only option. Occasionally you have to try alternative keywords. There's a massive amount of info here on the forum, finding it is the trick!

Hope this helps, and Buen Camino!

Thank you Peterexpatkiwi and all for the info and forum advice. Very much looking forward to the vdlp and now perhaps the additional leg!

Walked this in late August 2021. The temperatures were very hot, as would be expected at this time of year. Accommodation was difficult to find, as there were no albergues. We did not come across any other pilgrims on the entire route. It was a lovely walk though.

James G - my wife and I walked this route in April last year as a 'warm up' for the VdlP. In researching our pilgrimage I was initially interested in visiting Cadiz, then catching the train to Seville to start our walk. As is normally the case...the more research you do...the more interesting things you find. At first I couldn't find too many positive comments of the Via Augusta...most pilgrims warning of poor support (I think in terms of albergues) along this route. While comments on lack of albergues were quite accurate we still found lots of reasonable accommodation options. I also discovered a YouTube video put together by a Spaniard (all in Spanish unfortunately - Alvaro Lazaga Busto), but the photography and insight sold us on this path! Just a brilliant walk!!

And if you're a glutton for punishment...you can also sit through my less than polished attempt at filming a vlog.

Good luck in your travels! Buen Camino.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi, walked in late March early April 22. Great walk. No other pilgrims and a great warm up. Feel free to PM any questions you may have. I also have the route tracked Regards Bill.

I meet a Dutch man who walked this beginning of May and he said it was very quiet
