Increase in new posters?

henrythedog

Time of past OR future Camino
Annually - often more - from 2014
Is it just me, or does anyone else sense that after a quiet few months we’re starting to see a resurgence in new posters? A very positive sign if so.

I enjoy the many regulars, but now that we’ve got Dave Bugg back at the keyboard we need some more willing victims. The ‘monkey butt’ advice has already been resurrected but nobody’s innocently asked how to fit their rucksack for what seems like ages.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Actually just today I noticed a few of what seemed to be new members posting. It's always nice to have some new life breathed into the Forum! Hopefully it's a sign of good things coming in the not so distant future...like the blossoming of tender new flowers peeking out of the ground at the first sign of spring.🥀

Perhaps it is due to those of us in the UK who are looking forward to being released from our restrictions before too long due to the vaccine rollout that is going well consequently we are starting to plan. The issue from here will be when France, Spain etc are able to be in the same situation to enable free movement with limited restrictions. I finished my spreadsheet of places to stay last night, I just need to put the dates in!

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

Lucky for us there is no vaccine available for Camino fever!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I have missed all the new pilgrim questions like "I am walking to Santiago from Sarria and my pack weighs 17 kilos. I am sure I need everything in my pack. Here is what I am bringing ......... Can anyone help?";););)
In all seriousness we were all pretty nervous before our first camino. So ask away. The best part will be after about a week or so you will find yourself saying. I got this. No problem!

I'd love to start planning, but have the same concerns about countries opening up. Not sure when anyone will want to see folks from the US, sad to say! Fully vaccinated and waiting for the all-clear.

I can't wait! My husband and I had readied ourselves for #1 and were a couple of weeks from leaving when our plans got quashed due to Covid, as so many others did. I'd love to do a Fall Camino ahead of our 40th wedding anniversary but...too soon? Ever hopeful.

I too am quite new. Although I joined the site and set up an account in 2016, it still says I am a New Member. I have tried editing that tag, but ... Anyway, Covid took my job from me, so now I have a little more time on my hands and although I would rather be walking a Camino, I am happy to have "rediscovered" the Forum. I used it a lot preparing for the CF (which I completed in 2019) and the advice I garnered was invaluable. It is a great place to learn from the experiences of others and I hope I can contribute as courteously. I am also using the Forum as a substitute for an actual Camino, reliving it through the experiences and photos of others, filing away tidbits for my next Camino.

If you push your date out to late fall you might be ok. I am visualizing that for myself. It is all a big IF right now.

Good luck and hope you are staying safe. Maybe you are still considered a new member because you have not posted too often. I have no idea but I am have a feeling a moderator could answer your question. They tend to know ALOT!!:) ;)

If you go to your "Home", at the top of the page, then "Acccount Details", scroll down to "Custom Title" and you can change it.

A selection of Camino Jewellery
when I saw the title of the post, I thought the topic was going to be an increase of new posters along different Camino's advertising food, drink and beds. Doh the title meant lots of new members posting on the forum
