Camino Frances from Pamplona (Sept - Oct 2012)

Via Fracigena - Sienna to Rome (2015)
We have made it to Santiago after starting in Lisbon on August 22. The joy of being here had been somewhat muted by the place we are staying, Pension da Estrela in San Martini Plaza. The place is just plain dirty / mouldy. Worse than most munis, at 45e it should be avoided.

Santiago is basically filled and we could not get into any of our first three choices even 48 hours in advance as they were full.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Hi Jimbo...

So glad you have arrived safely.

I spent two nights at Hospitalio Campus in Santiago last Sat/Sun. It is a spotless and quiet place.
Im booked in to stay again on my way back from Muxia tomorrow.
I just checked Hotels.com and there are still double rooms free if you want to give it a try.

Hi Lise.
I was trying to find the place you recommended to keep on file for my camino next year. Nothing comes up under Hospitalio Campus. Is it
Hospederia Campus Stellae? Or am I completely on the wrong track?
Thanks,
Karen

Congratulations! Sorry about your bad experience. Hope it is nothing but wonderful for you from here on.
Enjoy :)

Join the Camino cleanup. Logroño to Burgos May 2025 & Astorga to OCebreiro in June
The Hostal Linares, Rua Algalia do Abaixo (far end) is around the same price, clean and quiet. We have stayed there a couple of times and they are very kind.

Yes that is the one.
Sorry for not providing a link. I really enjoyed it there.
The Cathedral is about a 10-15 min walk away and goes past a lovely park surrounded by restaurants.[/quote]

Great! Thank you :)

9/19/13: Hi there. Did you happen to walk the coastal route at all from Porto to Santiago? I'd like to give it a whirl and wonder what your input might be? I leave in a week!

I hope you had a wonderful adventure.

Namaste,
Laurie

We slept in Albergue Seminario Menor. It stays a little bit far a way from Santiago center, but it has a very good price.

I'm glad to see that you arrived well.

Best Regards
Diogo

Good to know, Diogo. Thank you!

There are plenty of xunta albergue and private albergues in town. I don't know whether you were looking for a private room or dorm-style accommodation, i would like you to know that we have a 110 bed modern facility that is 3 years old in santiago that is a 25 minute walk from the cathedral that is operated by non-profit charitable saint james pilgrimage foundation. From the camino frances you are 3 minutes from the official route into our albergue after entering santiago. You may also dropped your rucksacks off and enter santiago with no weights on your shoulder. We are closed for the winter from october the 16th until next april. However, we can be opened for big groups.

Buen camino to all and god bless.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Congrats.
Sorry to hear about the horrid accommodation .
Hope you have a good trip back home and perhaps see you back on the Camino in the future.

Buen Camino!

Parabèns ! Our congratulations.
You made it ! Loved to read your experiences. It was a "deja vu" for us

Best regard
Albertinho
