Impromptu Camino this November - which route?

Camino Francés (2018)
Hi all,

I have just realised I have the opportunity to walk the Camino in mid November this year - for around 1.5 weeks (finishing 21 November)

In June 2018, I walked the Camino Frances from SJPP to Finisterre. From memory I completed it in 33 days (with two rest days along the way). I was able to walk some 40km days.

For my impromptu Camino this November, I was initially thinking of walking the final part of the Camino Frances again (e.g. Leon to Santiago de Compostela) but then I met a friend who recommended the route from Porto to Santiago de Compostela.

My main concern is the weather and accomodation and having plenty of opportunities to socialise with others.

Will the weather be similar on both routes? And will there be enough accomodation and people on the route from Porto?

Thank you for your time in considering my questions.

I'm sure both routes will still be busy enough for a good amount of socializing. Since you have already been on the Frances, I would opt for the Portuguese. I was in Spain last November and experienced no rain, but I'm sure that can be hit or miss.

I'm sure you can't go wrong either way. Buen Camino!

I can't really help with the question, but I am planning a last minute camino on Nov 21. I have done the Portuguese before, I have walked the Frances last year as far as Pamplona before switching to the Norte because it was so busy. I am considering the Portuguese again or Frances from Pamplona. I am leaning more towards the Frances because I think in winter it will be the best supported, and I will finally complete the Frances without the crowds.

Hello

I too will be completing a part of the Camino in November. I have completed the Frances route in September last year and the Portuguese route from Porto. As I am only walking for about a week this time, I have decided to walk the Meseta from Burgos to Leon. I think it will be best supported and contrast with the warmer weather of Sept and October from my previous trips. Hope this helps.

Thank you all for your replies. At this stage, I'm going to do the Portuguese route, starting around 10 November. But am happy for any last minute messages here to convince me that the Frances route is the way to go!

Just did that a week ago. Rained 5.5 days out of 6. Get a good poncho and consider waterproof boots. For hostels I can recommend Hostels Bulwark in Valenca, Charino in Pontevedre and O Lagar de Jesus, 3k north of Pedron

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
